WHO and Mythbusters
The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about medical literature and science popularization like no other condition before, and I’m sure every medical translator has been busy translating these types of texts for the past 12 months and counting.
Last week, I translated an article on how some people use antibiotics in the hope of preventing this disease and how this won’t work as antibiotics help against bacteria, not viruses.
While doing some research on the topic for terminology I came across the WHO Mythbusters on COVID-19.
It’s a compilation of facts to tackle misconceptions and growing misinformation. While the English version is more complete and friendly as it includes infographics, the information is also available in Spanish.
I thought this may come in handy when translating about this new disease while also help demystify some misconceptions we ourselves may have or hear around us in our daily lives.
